Dan Steggles, founder of the Hoxne Brewery is on target to open ‘The Jolly Porters’ micropub this Friday at noon, located at Diss railway station, in the station’s former taxi office.

The Jolly Porters will be serving ale from Dan’s brewery, along with ales from other local breweries.

Mr. Steggles said: “Our aim is to be that place where people in transit, instead of coming ten minutes before, come an hour before and have a drink with us.

“There are micro pubs opening up and down the country in empty shops and doctor’s surgeries. The thing about micro pubs is there are no TVs, no gaming machines, no snooker tables, no music.

“It’s all about the art of conversation. Chances are, two strangers will be sat at the same table. They might actually have a conversation. That’s what we want to encourage.”

The name comes from a previous pub that was located in the station’s car park until 1973 & is set to open 01/07/2016.
