Scibbler’s ales planned on expanding by opening their second micropub in the Nottingham area, with hopes of opening the new pub in West Bridgford, on Abbey Road at a former sports equipment retailer.
The craft brewery opened their first micropub ‘A Room with a Brew’ back in February this year, located just outside the city centre at 78 Derby Road, towards Canning Circus.
Unfortunately, neighbours in the area complained to the Council over fears of the noise and litter pollution that the micropub will bring to the area. Scribbler’s ales tried to rid any fears residents may have on the application, saying:
“The ethos of the micropub is a community-based operation selling our own brewed and other quality real ales, wines and ciders in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
“There will be none of the usual distractions associated with normal pubs but it will be a place for quiet reading or conversation without having to compete with loud music, television or slot machines.
“No hot food will be supplies, just traditional bar snacks of crisps, nuts, sausage rolls, pork pies and scratchings, etc.”
However, the council made the decision to refuse the West Brideford application “with reasons” saying: “It is considered that use would cause increased activity, noise disturbance and vehicular traffic, which would be injurious to the amenities of nearby dwellings and the area in general”.
