A former store located on Gillygate in York, was to be converted by two brothers, Adam and Matt Spokes, changing the the building from an empty shop into a brand new micropub.

The brothers recently submitted their application to the council but have now decided to withdraw the plans after visiting the location with Council officials.

The withdrawal was mutually agreed between both parties over concerns of the proximity of housing, with ten residents close to the building, Adam & Matt did not feel the location was right for their new micropub.

They said:

“It was agreed to withdraw planning in this instance.

“While frustrating, we are in the early stages of seeking planning permission for a different site in York, bearing in mind the understandable concerns raised by the council at our first property.”

The brothers are now looking at other locations to bring York a new micropub & we hope that they find their perfect location in the near future.
