Plans have been approved for a new micropub, The Wonkey Donkey to open in Peterborough on Fletton High Street.

The pub will take over a gift shop called Twiggys at 102c Fletton High Street.

Brothers Dave and Andrew Williams initially submitted the planning application in August. The planning office approved the application on the 15th of November. All things considered it looks like it was a pretty quick decision although not without some minor stumbling blocks. That being said it’s evident from the planning application that Dave and Andrew did their homework. Any potential objections raised from the various departments involved were quickly resolved by the brothers. As an example the environmental health department raised concerns about noise pollution and within two weeks the brothers responded with a full acoustic survey and plans for addressing any noise issues.

Both Dave and Andrew are local to the area and have over 30 years combined experience in the pub industry. By following the ethos of a micropub they are hoping The Wonkey Donkey will provide a much needed community hub for local residents. There’s still some work to do on the refurb, however they hope to open in time for Christmas.

Best of luck to The Wonkey Donkey from us here at UK micropubs, we’ll be keeping an eye out for your opening date!
