The brand new micropub ‘The Chiverton Tap’ has recently opened in Cheadle Hulme, opened by three partners Bob & Mary Ellis and Andrew O’Shea who are all passionate about their ale.

Located on Mellor Road, the partners transformed a historic drapers shop to bring the micropub to life while keeping the heritage of the building, after searching through Stockport archives for building history the group named the pub after the original owner – Arthur Chiverton. Not only do they offer ale but also provide book and knitting clubs along wit sewing machines and bobbins in the decor.

“We had a lot of support from our friends and families and have been overwhelmed with the response since we opened.

“People have been saying it is just what the area needed and it is a welcome change showing better things to come.

“It has been great to see people enjoying the beers and what we do.”

The micropub has had a great response from the locals along with backing from the Manchester and Stockport CAMRA groups.

Andrew said: “I have got the industry experience, Bob has the passion for the beer and Mary is very good with the finances.

“We make a very good team.”
