The Mumbles Ale House micropub was recently awarded the title ‘pub of the Year 2016’ by Swansea and Neath CAMRA groups.

Owners Rod & Karen were the first to bring the micropub concept to Wales, gracing Swansea with it’s smallest pub back in 2014, which received a warm welcome from local real ale lovers for brining a great atmosphere to Swansea, along with high quality real ale.

Rod said: “We are overwhelmed to be awarded pub of the year, gobsmacked really

“For us, it’s all about the beer. We showcase all the beers from the British isles from the Highlands of Scotland to the Channel Isles. I love going to the breweries and trying the beers. So far we’ve had 729 different beers since we opened. We are also lucky to have such a wonderful customer base and such dedicated staff.”

The micropub serves 8 different ales at a given time that are regularly changed, bringing a wide variety to real ale lovers.

Karen said:

“The response to the ale house has been phenomenal.

“We never anticipated it would be so well received. People love the ales and the passion that Rod puts into choosing and keeping the beers. They also love the atmosphere and the spirit of the place.

“When we opened we made a very difficult decision not to stock lager and it’s paid off.

“A lot of people said you can’t run a pub if you don’t sell lager, but we’ve proved otherwise.”

Congratulations to The Mumbles Ale House for being crowned pub of the Year.
