Neil Dooley, 37, submitted plans at the beginning of November to convert the seaside amusements into Redcar’s first micropub, offering punters a sea view as they enjoy a pint of real ale.

Explaining the meaning behind the name, Neil said:

“Rita’s my nana’s name and in her house, she had a pantry where all the good things were kept.

“It was small room full of treats and that’s what we hope this will be.”

He also said:

“The astonishing rise in micropub numbers shows there is a real desire for a different drinking experience, where staff have a passion for their products and customers can share that while enjoying a natter with friends old and new.

“We also want to create a hub for the community where local groups can meet and good causes can be supported.”

The former amusement arcade can fit roughly 40 customers inside, offering a unique location and a great view. Along with these features, inside the micropub you’ll find a unique wooden bar and seating.

Mr Dooley said: “Redcar has some great pubs but nothing that you’d officially class as a micropub, so we hope to fill a gap.”

Rita’s Pantry is open 6pm-10pm Wednesday – Thursday, 6pm-11pm on a Friday and then from noon until 11pm.
