Last week saw the opening of the first Blackburn town centre micropub, with the launch of The Drummer’s Arms in King William Street.

Opened by James Quayle, along with his wife Katy, the pair currently run Q-ale, which hires pop-up bars for festivals & events and also helps setup micropubs. While running a bar in the town centre, James spotted the perfect location for a new micropub, in King William Street.

James said: “I said to myself that would make a great micropub and nearly 12 months later here we are. With some larger pubs and bars you go in they all have the same generic beers on offer but with a micropub you have more choice and we’re more flexible about what we can sell.”

The micropub will offer local ales from breweries such as Hopstar & Three B’s Brewery along with offering pies from Lancashire butcher Dales.

Mr Quayle said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming customers to enjoy the quality products.”
