Tin Bin Ltd has submitted a planning application to the Rother District Council to convert a wholefood shop and delicatessen into a micropub called The Brickmaker’s Alehouse. Details of the planning application can be found here. The guys behind the application, Robin Hill and Martin Payne, both have a background in the industry having worked at beer festivals and pubs previously and are already personal license holders. They say they will focus on sourcing beer from local breweries and snacks from local businesses which will be offered in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. It will be a small, simple, single room micropub with limited space (room for approximately 40 people). All the qualities we want from a good micropub. From our experience when micropubs become involved in the local community, working alongside other local small business then more often than not they become successful. Sure there are a lot of other factors at work, but for the most people want to support local businesses. Let’s hope the guys get their planning application approved!
